SV Bayreuth was an ice hockey team in Bayreuth, Germany, and part of the sports club of the same name.

They won the Bayernliga in 1979-80 and were promoted to the fourth-level Regionalliga for 1980-81. They reached the Oberliga in 1981-82 and won the league the following season, thus earning promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1983-84. They won the Southern group of the 2. BL in 1984 and 1985, and were promoted to the Eishockey-Bundesliga for 1985-86. After one year in the top-league, they were relegated back to the 2nd Bundesliga, where they played from that point onward.

The cost of the hockey department became overly exorbitant to the SV Bayreuth sports club. As a result, the section became independent from the rest of the club. After the 1993-94 season spent in the 2nd Bundesliga, SV Bayreuth was replaced by ESV Bayreuth.
