The New Zealand Ice Skating Association was founded in 1937 and undertook the governance of ice hockey and ice sports as a whole in New Zealand. It served in this capacity until an independent New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation was formed in 1988.
The NZISA celebrated its 50th anniversary with Jubilee celebrations in Christchurch from October 16-18, 1987.
