Metropolitan Amateur Hockey League (DC)

The Metropolitan Amateur Hockey League was formed in the Washington, D.C. area for the 1963-64 season. Games were played at the Washington Coliseum and in Baltimore. Starting in 1973, the Fairfax Ice Arena also served as a venue, and games stopped being played at the Coliseum after 1975. It became the Chesapeake Hockey League for 1968-69, running into the 1980s. Nothing is known about the league after 1984.

During the season, other games were scheduled against Wissahickon, the Wilmington Wheels and Tendler’s Eagles. 1981-82

Columbia Brewers won the regular season title at 12-1-1, finishing ahead of 11-3 Arsenal, Fairfax, Caravan Sporting Goods, Coast Guard, Georgetown, and the D&F Arrows. The Brewers beat Caravan 7-3 in the semifinals, but dropped the three game final to Arsenal, 2-1 (7:9, 4:1, 7:4).

1982-83

Columbia Brewers were rnemaed the National Premiums. Caravan finished first in the regular season at 15-3, ahead of Maruk's Blades at 13-3-2, the National Premiums at 11-7, the D&F Arrows, University of Maryland, and Coast Guard. The National Premiums fell to Maruk's 2-1 in the semifinals (1:7, 4:3, 7:2), the latter team advancing to play Caravan for the title.

1983-84

Caravan finished first in the regular season, ahead of Maruk's Blades, the 10-10 National Premiums, Fairfax, the D&F Arrows, and the Cecils. Caravan beat the Premiums 9-4 in the semifinals.
