The Gower Cup was first awarded to the winner of the Australian women's state competition between Victoria and New South Wales in July 1922.
Victoria won the cup four out of the five times it is known to have been awarded from 1922 to 1928. There was also mention of a Gower Cup tournament being played in 1930, but no results are known.
