GP Pucken

The GP Pucken is an ice hockey tournament for youth players which has been held in the Gothenburg region of Sweden since 1955. It was then the secretary of the Göteborgs Ishockeyförbund, Kurt-Arne "Karne" Johansson, who in 1954 got the idea for the tournament, but it quickly became clear that the newspaper he then worked for, Handels-Tidningen, would not be able to participate and arrange for such a tournament. Kurt-Arne therefore contacted the sporting director at GP, Lennart “Duke” Crusner, who immediately agreed to the idea. 153 teams registered for the inaugural tournament
