On September 23, 1967, the Aerosonic Canadians and Tri-Tech Rangers were set to play for the championship for ages 13-17.

1975

The South Florida Hockey Club continued playing at the Polar Palace. The Bruins relocated to the Polar Palace from West Palm Beach, where the ice had been removed. The team was still sometimes referred to as West Palm Beach. There was hockey played at the Lakeland Civic Center during the summer of 1975, with the Lakeland Amateur Hockey Association and Lakeland Lightnings being established.

7/5: Bruins beat Black Hawks to win South Florida Amateur Hockey League title at Polar Palace

The Lakeland Amateur Hockey Association held a junior tournament at the Lakeland Civic Center on August 13-14, involving teams from Lakeland, St. Petersburg and Miami. A senior league also operated at the rink.

1978

The South Florida Hockey Association played games at the Polar Palace again. The Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament was played at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg from April 15-22, with 32 teams competing. Finals: A - Thunder Bay - Enoch 5:2, B - Ennismore - Nanaimo 5:0, C - Pictou County - Corner Brook 7:6, D - Cataraqui - Bradbury 4:1, E - Sillery beat Cornwall, F - Florida Oldtimers - Bridgenorth 5:4.

An adult league was also in existence in St. Petersburg. The Florida Hockey League, played at the Lakeland Civic Center, was won by the Lakeland Red Tide. They beat the Orlando Orange Crush 4-3 to win the Dixie Cup on August 22. The Crush had trimmed the Tampa Purple Streaks 5-1 in the semifinal the previous day.

Florida Hockey League

The Florida Hockey League was made up of teams from Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland West and Lakeland East. During the regular season Orlando won four games, Lakeland West three, Tampa two and Lakeland East one. Orlando beat Lakeland East on August 20 to reach the finals, where they beat Lakeland West 8-1 the next day to capture the Dixie Cup at the Lakeland Civic Center.

The Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament was played at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg from April 21-27. It featured 44 teams from Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States, including the Solar Bears, a Florida all-star team. Finals: A - Silbery - Calgary 2:1 OT, B - Edmonton - Sidney 8:2, C - Dundas County - St. Eleanors 5:2, D - Gatineau - Georgian Bay 5:4, E - Mor Peth - Tilsonbury 4:3, F - London - St. Phillips 6:5 OT.

1980

4/19: Broward Community College - Florida Atlantic University 3:2 @ Sunrise Skating Center

The Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament was contested again at the Bayfront Center in April 1980. It featured 40 teams from Canada. The Gold Coast Minor Hockey League was established at the Sunrise Skating Center.

Florida Central Hockey League @ Lakeland Civic Center

Schedule: 8/15: Tampa Bay - Orlando, 8/16: Lakeland - Tampa Bay (2 games), 8/17: Tampa Bay - Orlando (2 games), 8/18: Orlando - Lakeland, 8/20: Tampa Bay - Orlando, 8/24: Lakeland - Orlando (2 games), 8/27: Lakeland - Orlando.

Lakeland clinched a berth in the final, with Tampa Bay and Orlando facing off in the semifinal on August 30 for the right to meet them.

There were also youth games played between Lakeland and St. Petersburg.

1981

The Bayfront Arena played host to two tournaments, the Florida Palms International Tournament from April 27-30 for players 30 and older, and the Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament for players 35+ from May 5-9. The latter included two local teams, the Florida Solar Players and Elder Gators. The Glacier Ice and Snow Arena opened in Pompano Beach in 1981. Lansing Campbell Catering from Michigan won the Can-Am Open Tournament, beating the hosts Fort Lauderdale 10-6 in the final on March 29. Earlier in the tournament, Lansing beat Fort Lauderdale 6-2 and Toronto 6-5.

South Florida Hockey League @ Sunrise Skating Center (fall 1981)

Fort Lauderdale Aces, BCC Rebels, Deerfield, Plum Soup Night Hawks, Hialeah, Boca Raton Stars, Sunrise Skaters, Hallandale Classic, Miami Lakes, Pompano Beach participated.

1982

The Polar Palace in Miami was shuttered in May 1982. The Florida Palms International Tournament and the Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament were held at the Bayfront Center. The South Florida Hockey League was contested again at the Sunrise Skating Center. There was hockey played at the Orlando Ice Skating Palace, which had opened in August 1981.

The Lakeland Amateur Hockey Association had senior and youth leagues again. On July 10 it was reported a team from St. Petersburg was set to enter the senior league. At that point, Orlando was in first place with 5 wins, followed by Tampa with 4 and Lakeland with 3. The Dixie Cup was set to be awarded for the fifth time on August 21, with Tampa and Orlando squaring off in the final. Orlando had reportedly won two of the last three titles, with Tampa winning the other.

1983

The Florida Palms International Tournament and the Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament were held at the Bayfront Center. The South Florida Hockey League returned for another season. All-star teams from the Gold Coast Hockey League, known as Team Florida, faced teams from Ottawa, Ontario in an invitational tournament at the Sunrise Skating Center in March 1983. In the U18 Division, Florida won the first game 2-1 and the second 6-5, while Ottawa captured the third, 7-4. In the U15 Division, Ottawa defeated Florida in three straight games. The Panthers won the regular season title of the Gold Coast Junior Hockey League, finishing two points ahead of the Dolphins and four ahead of the Blackjax.

1985

The South Florida Hockey League and Gold Coast Minor Hockey League both operated at the Sunrise Skating Center. The Central Florida Amateur Hockey Association and a Central Florida youth program ran at the Orlando Ice Skating Palace. The Gold Coast League organized an international youth tournament in April. Klagenfurt (Austria) beat Team South Florida 6-0 in one game.

1986

The Florida Palms International Tournament and the Canada-Florida Old Timers Ice Hockey Tournament were held at the Bayfront Center. The South Florida Hockey League and Gold Coast Minor Hockey League both operated at the Sunrise Skating Center. The Sun Blades Ice Skating Center opened in Clearwater. An amateur league with two eight team divisions, A and B, was formed at the rink, as was a youth league. Neuhaus beat the Knockers 6-2 in December to win the A Division title. The Lighthouse Point Ice Arena opened in Broward County, and the South Florida No-Check Hockey League was established at the rink.

The South Florida Hockey League and Sunrise Junior Hockey League operated at the Sunrise Skating Center, and the Gold Coast Minor Hockey League played at the Lighthouse Point Ice Arena. There were adult and youth leagues contested at the Orlando Ice Skating Palace and Sun Blades. Sun Blades host the first Senior Non-check National Ice Hockey Championship in April. The Suncoast Sharks won the championship, and the Sunblades also competed in the tournament, along with teams from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The Sharks also won the Sunshine State Hockey Association, which was contested during the winter of 1988. Other teams in the league included the Fort Lauderdale Stars, St. Petersburg Sunblades, and Pompano Beach.

The Florida Palms International Tournament was held at the Bayfront Center and the Sun Blades Ice Skating Center. The Gold Coast Minor Hockey League played at the Lighthouse Point Ice Arena, and the Sunrise Junior Hockey League was contested at the Sunrise Ice Skating Center. A new facility, Ice Rink International, opened in Orlando in 1989. The Orlando Youth Hockey Association operated a league at the rink, and there was also a senior league. There were senior and youth leagues contested at Sun Blades.

The US Senior 30+ Championship was held in Fort Lauderdale and won by the hosts, Dearborn finishing as runners-up. The Senior Non-Check Championship was played in St. Petersburg, Duluth Stewart's Sporting Goods coming in ahead of Dale's Graphics of Michigan.

Indiro's Pizza defeated Sunrise Ice Skating Club 5-3 in the championship game to win the B Division. Jacksonville won the bronze medal. In the Old-timers Division, the Fort Lauderdale Eldergators won the gold medal, the Jacksonville Oldtimers the silver, and the Daytona Sharks the bronze.

The US Senior Non-Check Championship was held in St. Petersburg, Duluth finishing first, ahead of Paddock Pools from Michigan.

The Suncoast Sharks were among the teams to play in it. Paddock Pools (MI) beat Suncoast 8:6 in the semifinals, and then beat Pabst/Northland in the final. The South Florida Hockey League operated at the Sunrise Skating Center. The Orlando Youth Hockey Association operated a league at the Dowdy Ice Rink.

The University of South Florida club team went 7-3 on the season. Games: South Florida - Kentucky, South Florida - Georgia 6:2.

In November 1991 Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning beat Orlando 4-3 to win the Pompano Beach Thanksgiving Hockey Tournament Junior Division (U16-18) championship. The Bantam Jr. Lightning lost 5-4 to Pompano Beach in the final.

1992

The University of South Florida had a club team that played at the Sun Blades Ice Skating Center in Clearwater. They faced Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, the University of Alabama-Huntsville (losing 24-1 and 15-0 to them), Duke (beating them 5-0 and 4-2 at Stone Mountain, GA), and the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning among others. The Bulls were 8-3-1 in the Southern Collegiate Hockey Association as of 2/9.
