Deutscher Sportverein Leoben

Deutscher Sportverein Leoben was an ice hockey team situated in Leoben, Austria. The club began playing ice hockey in 1927, although its exact foundation date is unknown.

DSV was at first a temporary member of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation during the 1927-28 and 1928-29 seasons, before becoming a full member in 1929.

Initially, the club mostly played in friendly matches against other Austrian and other European teams as there was no championship in existence in the Provincial/Styrian region of Austria. In 1928-29, they played in the Styrian Championship, finishing second.

The Provincial Championship was only set up for the 1932-33 season. DSV was immediately placed in the 1. Klasse of the competition. They also took part in the Alpenländerpokal against other clubs from the region (Leoben won it in 1937).

The Provincial Championship schedule was left uncompleted due to a very mild winter in 1935-36. The following year, both Leoben and EC KAC qualified for the State Championship, where they competed against the top two clubs from the Vienna Championship.

No games were contested in the Provincial Championship in 1938 and both KAC and Leoben again took part in the State Championship. After the German Anschluss of Austria in March 1938, Leoben played several matches during the 1938-39 season.

Following World War II and Austria's return to independence, a team known as SV Leoben (likely the same club, but unconfirmed) played in the Austrian Championship in some years through the 1961-62 season. They lost in the final to Wiener EV in 1950-51.
