The Blackhawks Ice Hockey Club was founded in 1947. One of the oldest teams in the Victoria region of Australia, they were initially based out of the St. Moritz Ice Rink in St. Kilda.

The Blackhawks later moved to the Coliseum Rink in Dandenong in 1977, before relocating to the Olympic Ice Skating Centre in Oakleigh a decade later. They then played at the Iceland rink in Ringwood from 1994-2003, the Eastern Ice Skating Center in 2004, the Oakleigh rink from 2005-2009, and the Medibank Icehouse at Docklands since then.
