The 1970-71 Northern League season was the fifth season of the Northern League, the top level ice hockey league in northern England and Scotland. Six teams participated in the league, and the Murrayfield Racers won both the regular season championship and the Spring Cup playoff championship.

Other games
Dundee was expelled from the league in December after disagreement over the payment of match levies and played challenge games after.
- 1/30: Blackpool Seagulls - Dundee Rockets 9:3
- 1/31: Dundee Rockets - Fife Flyers 7:5 - memorial game for former Rocket goaltender Pete Smith, who died the previous week
