USC and John Carroll in action on December 13, 1938.

The California Golden Bears, Loyola Lions, UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans all fielded ice hockey teams this winter. USC won the Southern California Hockey Association title. In addition to the SCHA, California competed in the Oakland Industrial League and the Pacific Coast Invitational Championship. Highlights of the season included the University of Alberta, University of Toronto and Gonzaga visiting Los Angeles.
