Match report

An excerpt from Peter Patton's 1936 Ice Hockey publication:

"The Oxford Captain got over his initial difficulty of building up a team out of ten forwards with considerable success. He was lucky in having five 'Old Blues' in addition to himself; a very good nucleus to start from compared with only three 'old hands' that Rogers took over.

In J.E. Nadeau, Coyne had one excellent new player, and in Jimmy Carr, Bob Rogers had an exceptionally good 'recruit' from the R.M.C., Canada. It was owing to the fine work of the two last-named players that Cambridge put up such a good show against a better-balanced team. It was hard luck, however, for the Light Blues, as well as for himself, that R.F. Douglas their goalkeeper was unable to play owing to an injury. Oxford still had a rink but the Cambridge home rink was at Purley- a long journey. In making these long journeys to and from practice, the Light Blues displayed great keenness and a very sporting spirit. "
