1932 German USSR Tour

In February 1932, ice hockey players from the German Labour Sport Union, a member of the CSI (Communist Sports International), under the name Fichte (after the philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte), visited the Soviet capital of Moscow to demonstrate the game of ice hockey.

Results

At first, two closed matches were held, against a Moscow selection, and Dynamo Moscow. Surprisingly, both teams dominated their German opponents, winning by double-digit margins.

  • Moscow Selection - Fichte 13:0 - Moscow roster: Valentin Granatkin, Pavel Korotkov, Konstantin Kvashnin, Peter Yakovlev, Mikhail Yakushin, Alexander Igumnov.
  • Dynamo Moscow - Fichte 17:3 - Dynamo roster: Sergey Alimbekov, Pavel Korotkov, Lev Korchebokov, Pavel Savostyanov, Konstantin Kvashnin, Mikhail Bolshakov.

After these closed matches, it was decided to hold official matches involving weaker teams, with Fichte facing CDKA Moscow (Central Army Sports Club) once, and the Moscow Selects twice.

  • 2/24: CDKA Moscow - Fichte 3:0 (1:0, 1:0, 1:0) - goals: V. Venevtsev (3) - CDKA roster: Vladimir Lesin; Evgeny Bokunyaev - Leonid Sharov; Alexander Dyomin - Vladimir Lash - Vladimir Venevtsev.
  • 2/28: Moscow Selects - Fichte 6:0
  • 3/6: Moscow Selects - Fichte 8:0
  • Moscow Selects roster: Yuri Struve; Vasily Filippov - Nikolai Nazarov; Andrey Starostin - Georgy Artyomiev - Nikolay Bugrov.
  • Fichte roster: Hans Erfurt; Rick, Dumas, Wongel, Krause, Ionat.
