This was the 1923-24 season in English ice hockey:

Cambridge University held trials at the Manchester Ice Palace to select a team for an international tour to Switzerland on November 24.[1]

A game between The Army and The Rest of England was played at the Ice Palace on November 30, 1923. The Rest won 6-3. G.E. Clarkson, H.D. Jukes, J. Cock, and H. Sexton (3) scored for the winners, and G. Carr, Harris, and Lt. C. Ross Cuthbert scored for the Army. The purpose of the game was to select the British team for the 1924 Winter Olympics. [2]

The 1923 Varsity Match between Oxford and Cambridge University was played on December 29 at Mürren, Switzerland. On January 8, Oxford University defeated the British Olympic Team 7-2 in St. Moritz.[3]
