An excerpt from Peter Patton's 1936 Ice Hockey publication:

"The overwhelming defeat of Cambridge was due chiefly to Oxford being represented by one of the finest, if not the finest, team that the University has ever had. If the Cambridge captain, in marked contrast to the Oxford one, had taken as much trouble as Taylor had in getting a team together and giving it some practice, this match might perhaps not have been such a very mediocre one. The form of the Oxford men was so well known that a sweepstake was got up before the match as to how many goals they would get. The man who drew forty goals refused to sell his chance after the first five minutes!"
