1911 Ringhoffer Pokal
The 1911 Ringhoffer Pokal was the first edition of the competition. It was planned to be contested on February 2, 4, and 5, 1911, in Prague, as the Austrian Hockey Championship in Bandy.
Background
The awards ceremony was on Sunday evening, at 20:00, in the winter garden of the Hotel de Saxe. The rules of the Deutscher Eissport-Verband were applied. Players who play a sport professionally were not allowed to participate. Each team was given the option of nominating two substitutes. Players could only play for one team throughout the competition. All teams had the right to appoint an official, who was only allowed to referee games his team was not apart of.
The cost per team is 20 crowns, 10 crowns for each additional team. The application deadline was is the January 16th, 1911, at 8:00. Messages had to be sent to Ing. Alfons Häckele, Prague, Konviktgasse 10. The draw took place place on Thursday, January 17, 1911, at 7:00 at the Hotel de Saxe, Prague. The games consisted of two periods running 25 minutes each. In the event of a tie, the game time was to be extended by 5 minutes each. The winner received the Ringhoffer Pokal and would be engraved on trophy. The runner-up would receive an honorary trophy, as would the third placed squad if at least eight teams participated.
The honorary committee consisted of: Alexander von Benkö, Graf Rudolf Czernin, Obersanitätsrat Prof. Dr. Ferd. Hueppe, G.d.I. von Goller, Rektor Prof. Dr. Camillo Körner, Fürst Friedrich von Lobkowitz, Alfred Freiherr von Ringhoffer, Franz Freiherr von Ringhoffer, Fritz Freiherr von Ringhoffer, Karl Schöttner, president of the National Association of Tourism in German Bohemia, Chief of General Staff Colonel of Stanoilovic, Dr. Graf Oswald Thun-Salm. The official championship committee wore green arm bands and consisted of section director ng. Häckele, Dr. Artur Steiner, Pepi Fridl, Sigurd Reichmann, Leitner, Hübner, Pascher, Emil Steiner, and Schreuer.
The planned game on February 2nd took place between Deutscher Fussballclub Prag and DEHG Prag. DFC protested as the game consisted of two 20 minute periods rather than the stipulated 2x25.
Due to warm weather conditions, the matches scheduled to be played on February 4th and 5th were forced to be postponed to the 12th. The German squads Leipziger SC and Berliner Hockeyclub were unable to come on this date as they had a prearranged match in Leipzig. Thus, the tournament consisted solely of teams from Prague.
DEHG Prag won the inaugural Ringhoffer Pokal in a thrilling final over Ceska sportovni spolecnost.
