- 2/24: Alexandria - Maxville - Alcide Laurin of Alexandria was beaten to death by 19-year-old Allan Loney from Maxville. Laurin took a shot in the chin, followed by a blow to the left temple from Loney's stick. Soon after the incident, Laurin, 24 at the time, was pronounced dead on the ice. Loney, a player who was infamous for his brutal on-ice violence, was charged with murder, which was later changed to manslaughter. It was an exceedingly rough game filled with numerous penalties, and it noted that there were only 25-30 minutes of actual play in an hour's time due to a Maxville player having a skate broken.
