This league was founded for the 1903 season. The teams were divided into three groups. Group 1: Didsbury, Olds; Group 2: Red Deer, Lacombe; Group 3: Wetaskiwin, Leduc.

  • 1/14: Didsbury - Wetaskiwin 5:3
  • 1/15: Wetaskiwin - Lacombe 7:5

  • 1/31: Leduc - Wetaskiwin 5:3
  • 2/3: Wetaskiwin - Leduc 11:9
  • 2/7: Wetaskiwin - Leduc 4:0

Didsbury beat Olds three times to win the southern section.

"The Wetaskin team played under protest against a picked Didsbury-Olds team in the finals, but were defeated. At the executive meeting, the protest was upheld and Wetaskiwin was declared the champions of the league, but the cup was not forthcoming. The coveted trophy was taken home by the Didsbury-Olds team, without giving a bond or any guarantee and has since been held by them. A few weeks ago when Wetaskiwin demanded her rights, a decree was sent forth by the powers that Wetaskiwin would have to put up a $100 bond. This clause was added presumably because the cup was going to Wetaskiwin."
