1900-01 CBSHL season
The 1900-01 CBSHL season was the first season of the Cape Breton Senior Hockey League.
Overview
"Two hockey matches were set for January 4 1901. The Capitals versus Dominion, followed by the Social and Athletic team taking on the Glace Bay Seven. A special train was run from Glace Bay to Sydney that evening stopping at all stations in-between. Teams from the mainland (Dartmouth) soon came to play the local teams on their home ice.
By the end of this first season in the Rosslyn Rink, 'seven good teams of seven good men' played for the Cape Breton Hockey League championship. The winning team from the Dominion Iron and Steel Company were awarded the Cruise Trophy, an ornate silver cup adorned with hockey players, sticks, and other fancy adornments, donated by manager A.W. Cruise."
