The 1899 English Club Championship was awarded to Princes Ice Hockey Club. It was the first title in their history.[1]

According to the Glimpses of English Ice Hockey History section of Peter Patton's Ice Hockey (1936) book, there were "Similar matches to previous season, and also a match at Brighton on January 4th, 1899, when Princes lost 4-2 to the home team at the circular rink in that town" during the 1898-99 season.[2]

Other matches played this season included Niagara 5 - London Garrison 1 on November 26, Niagara 3 - Princes 1 on December 10, and Niagara 3 - The Old Wellington Team 2 at the Niagara Ice Rink in January.

The February 11, 1899, edition of the Morning Post listed an advertisement for the Prince's Skating Club Challenge Cup (the Club Championship), noting that the competition was "Open to all Amateur Teams of five" and that entries closed on Saturday, February 18. The particulars were to be sent to H.W. Page (secretary), Prince's Skating Club, Knightsbridge.[3] Patton's book states that Princes won the Club Championship.
