"In the winter of 1899-00 the (Dawson) A.C. Co. employees felt called upon to form an 'American' team which, when by accident it defeated some third-rate team, at once had its photograph placed in shop windows as the 'champions of Dawson.' A team of young Canadian players went down to their rink and made an awful exhibition of the 'champions.' A team from the Yukon field force followed suit and the photographs were covered up.' - Dawson Daily News, 1901-03-30
