The 1895 Varsity Match was the first confirmed game between Oxford University and Cambridge University. There was supposedly a prior match played in 1885, but no contemporary accounts exist of this earlier game.
The match was a bandy game, played at Blenheim Lake in England. Oxford was late arriving so the playing time was shortened.
The first "official" Varsity Match was played at Prince's Skating Club in 1900.
