This was the 1884 ice hockey season in the Canadian Maritimes:
Nova Scotia
"Hockey at Halifax sports night. Five a side, 15 minute games at Exhibition Rink: The next was the game of hockey, commonly known as Hurley, in which the teams were:
- Red and Black (1) - L.J. Fuller, G.C. Hart, G. Stayner, H. Bauld, W. Neal.
- Blues (0)--H. Oxley, H.Ward. H, Bauld, HJ. Wylde, Geo. A.Taylor."[1]
