This was the 1883 ice hockey season in the Canadian Maritimes:
Nova Scotia
"Lacrosse teams play hockey in Halifax. Last night about 30 witnessed a match between the Micmac and Hiawatha Lacrosse Clubs. It resulted in a victory for Mr. Oxley's team of 8 beating Mr. Ward's 9 players 4 games to 1."[1]
This was the first documented indoor ice hockey game played in Nova Scotia.
