The first club in Egypt, the Ice Hockey International School (IHIS), was formed in 2002.<ref>[https://www.facebook.com/EgyptIHIS/info?tab=page_info Official IHIS Facebook page - About]</ref> This Egyptian amateur ice hockey team plays mainly in "Ice Planet Rink" in Maadi Family Land mall. In 2013, the team changed its name from IHIS to Capital Biko which means "Hawks of the Capital City" in the Egyptian language. This representative name identified the team until 2016 when it changed its name to Anubis.
