The Nova Scotia Independent League was played during the 1909-10 season. The Halifax Wanderers, Dalhousie University, and Saint Mary's College participated in the league. The Wanderers left the Nova Scotia Hockey League due to concerns over professionalism stating that they were hoping to play "real amateur hockey, without any suspicion as to the eligibility of the players on the teams."[1]
