Hockey Club Roman Bucharest
Hockey Club Roman Bucharest was an ice hockey team based in Bucharest, Romania. The club entered the inaugural Romanian Championship, held from January 22-23, 1925.
Playing as Tenis Club Roman Bucharest as the F.S.S.R.'s (Federatia Societatilor Sportive din Romania) statutes stipulated that a club had to be in existence for at least six months prior, they entered an A and a B team in the championship. The A team fell in the semifinals to Brașovia Brașov while the B team was also felled by them in the finals.
The club reverted back to its original name for 1925-26. Despite great enthusiasm to start the year, no official championship came to fruition. The only game staged that year was an exhibition match between the squad's A and B sides - the B team won 4-3.
Tenis Club Roman Bucharest officially formed their hockey team on December 10, 1926, and both they and HCR entered two teams in the Romanian Championship. HCR was victorious and earned their first national title.
They repeated as champions in 1928, handling TCR 7-1 in the regional Bucharest Championship before handling Universitatea Cluj in the final by a score of 3-0. HCR won their third consecutive championship the following year, triumphing 4-3 over TCR.
HCR's three-peat proved to be the pinnacle of the club's history as most of the club's players either gave up playing hockey or moved to Tenis Club. They did not contest any subsequent championships.
