History

HK Prizma Riga was founded in 1998 and first took part in the Latvian Hockey League as part of a joint venture with Latvijas Bērzs. Between 2001 and 2003 the team played in the B Division of the Eastern European Hockey League in addition. In the 2002–03 season, they played in the Pirma Liga, the second level Latvian league, and finished in third place.[1]

In the 2003–04 season, the club joined forces with the sports school of Helmut Balderis under the name BHS Prizma/Riga 86, and finished in seventh place in the LHL.[2] For the 2004–05 season, the club returned to the second league, while the U18 team participated in the Latvian U18 Hockey League.

In the 2008–09 season, the team entered a cooperation with Hanza Riga, forming HS Riga/Prizma-Hanza. The combined club finished in sixth place in 2008–09.

Since 2010-11, the club has competed independently in the Latvian Hockey League. They defeated HK Kurbads in the final to win their first Latvian Championship in 2013-14
