All of the games were played in [[Quebec]], which was undoubtedly the cradle of Canadian hockey in this era. The [[Ottawa Senators (original)|Ottawa Hockey Club]] was the first team to be formed outside of Quebec in 1883. They made their competitive debut at the 1884 Montreal Winter Carnival. The only game played outside Quebec in this list was the March 10, 1886, match-up between Queen's University and Royal Military College, which took place in Kingston, Ontario.
