Match report
An excerpt from Peter Patton's 1936 Ice Hockey publication:
"The result of this match did not of course indicate the true strength of the two Varsities. Had Oxford been allowed to play their Rhodes scholars, the score might have been just the reverse. The idea in excluding Rhodes scholars was to ensure an even game between the English players of both Universities
A vague rule as to their exclusion existed, but after the match it was to a certain extent rescinded, and in the future two players from North America could be included in each team. Vetter, who was easily the best man on either team, had learned his hockey at Princes, scored 5 goals and Ayre 3. Wenham in goal had only one shot to deal with."
