The Ice Hockey Varsity Match was not contested in 1902. Instead a bandy match was played.

Details

An excerpt from Peter Patton's 1936 Ice Hockey book:

"J.J. Cawthra endeavoured to arrange for the Varsity match to be played again this year. The Cantabs were invited to play a bandy match, i.e. with a ball, bandy stick and teams of eleven a side, on the lake at Blenheim Palace. The Cambridge captain agreed to this on the one condition that the Oxonians would play his Varsity at Ice-Hockey. To this they agreed but failed to do, giving an excuse that they could not raise a team. The bandy match was played on February 18th; the result was a draw of 2 goals all."
