HK Zemgale (also known as JLSS Zemgale) is an ice hockey team from Jelgava, Latvia. They play in the Latvian Hockey League.

History

The club was founded in 2001 and joined the Latvian Hockey League for the 2002-03 season. Their affiliate, Hanza / Zemgale Jelgava participated in the Latvian Second League (Pirma Liga).[1] Zemgale also played in the Eastern European Hockey League Division 2 during the 2002-03 season, finishing first in their group. The club continued competing in the Latvian Hockey League until the conclusion of the 2004-05 season, when financial problems forced them to withdraw from the league.

Zemgale then consisted exclusively of junior teams until 2010, when they returned to the Latvian Hockey League.
