1933-34 in Serbian ice hockey
This was the 1933-34 season in Serbia:
Overview
"Ice hockey has also arrived in Subotica. The ice hockey department of the Subotica Sports has started its operations. Among the increasingly popular winter sports, ice hockey has also reached Subotica. Ice hockey is an extremely popular sport abroad, especially in the northern states, and it is not uncommon for an ice hockey match to have tens of thousands of spectators. The hegemony of ice hockey is held by North America, where Canada in particular has first-class hockey teams. The frequent European guest appearances of Americans have had a positive effect on the sport of ice hockey, and today the masters of ice hockey do not win as easily in Europe as they did a few years ago. In Yugoslavia, the Ljubljana lliria recently formed a hockey team, but a movement has also started in Belgrade to establish a hockey club. In Subotica, where many people are fans of skating, there has so far been no association that would have organized hockey. This year, despite the favorable conditions, everyone felt the lack of a hockey team. The merit belongs to Subotica Sport, which launched an action to promote hockey in Subotica. Of course, the action is still in its early stages and the newly established ice hockey department of Subotica Sport is currently struggling with a lack of equipment. The ice hockey players of Subotica Sport already trained on the ice rink next to the Zorka factory on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully, the movement that has been initiated will end with results and the sport of ice hockey in Subotica will soon start to develop nicely."
[2] "Ice hockey match in Szentai. SzAK Tiszapart defeated the national team 8:1 (4:0, 2:1, 2:0). Csonka and Dallos were selected from SzAK, and Tripolszki from Tiszapart."
"Hockey match on the large ice in Aleksandrovo. Subotica HK—Subotica Sport 2:1 (1:1, 0:0, 1:0). The first ice hockey match was played on the large ice in Aleksandrovo in Subotica on Thursday. The exceptional sports attraction was preceded by great interest. The game was not as exciting as the Canada-USA match at the last World Championship in Milan, but it can be said that the start is encouraging and ice hockey has a future in Subotica. Ice hockey is still in its infancy in our country, but there is every hope that the sport, which is popular abroad, will take root in the Danube region, where skating is practiced most intensively and with the greatest passion among winter sports. Subotica Sport was an equal opponent for the Hockey Club, which won by only one doubtful goal. Varjas and Szabó from Sport, and Mátics, Beljánszki and Steana from the Hockey Club stood out."
