This was the 1995-96 Autumn Trophy:

Participating teams

Final

"The preliminary round went smoothly and the final actually took place in the autumn. However, the first leg on 18 October was a disaster. Chieftains sent only nine players - including coach Steve James - to Dumfries and had to use three locals including Ayr under-19 'minder David Kennedy.

An injury to Chiefs' Karl Goebel plus penalties to the visitors forced referee Andy Duncan to abandon the match at 45.52 with Chelmsford losing 23-0.

Border Vikings, who were playing in their first major contest, were later awarded the Cup without a second leg being played."
