The 1990-91 Scottish League First Division season was contested by eight teams, and saw the Tayside Tigers win the championship. They then played against against the top two teams in the English League and the bottom two teams from the British Hockey League Division One for a right to play in the BHL.

The Kilmarnock Jetstream Flyers won the Scottish League Cup. The top four teams from the regular season qualified for the cup, with the Kirkcaldy Kestrels replacing Castlereagh, who was unable to field a team in the competition.
