The 1984-85 Women's Swedish Division 1 season was the first season of the league. Unofficial series had been played since 1969 when Modo AIK and Timrå IK started playing against each other. The first official women's hockey series had been played in 1981 in the Stockholm district. For the 1984-85 season, it had been decided that the Swedish Ice Hockey Association would take over responsibility and organize a league for the entire country.

Kvalserien
The season also included two Division II series: Division II Central A and B, respectively. Neither of the series were completed. The teams leading the series at about half time advanced to the qualifying series for Division I where they faced Kista HC who came last in their Division I group.
