Walter Schmiedinger (born March 3, 1919) was a German hockey player. He was a member of the German National Team at three World Championships between 1937-1939.

He also played for Germany at the International Week of Winter Sports tournaments in 1940 and 1941.

Schmiedinger spent most of his 20+ year club career with SC Riessersee (1931-1936; 1939-1951). He also played for Düsseldorfer EG (1936-1939) and Krefelder EV (1951-1953).

He is a member of the German Hockey Hall of Fame.
