The 1953 FDGB Pokal was won by Wismut Erz Frankenhausen.

Results

The teams of the Oberliga and Motor Treptow, who had already been promoted, competed. Originally all the Oberliga and Liga teams and the 10 Bezirksliga champions were going to compete in the tournament, and a first round schedule had been drawn up.

Second round
  • Turbine Crimmitschau 6 - Motor Treptow 5 (1:2, 2:1, 3:2)
Semifinal
  • Wismut Erz Frankenhausen 10 - Turbine Crimmitschau 6 (5:1, 2:2, 3:3)
Final
