The Amateur Athletic Union did not organize a national ice hockey championship in 1936. Some regional tournaments were however played.

Adirondack District

  • 3/13: Massena Scarlet Stars - Syracuse All-Stars 3:3
  • 3/14: Syracuse All-Stars - Albany Hockey Club 8:5
  • 3/15: Massena Scarlet Stars - Clinton Hockey Club 6:1 - final

Syracuse was ineligible for the championship, but filled in as the fourth team.

Minnesota District

  • Eveleth Indians - Twin Cities Red Squirrels 3:2 OT
  • Minneapolis Flour City - Ely 3:2 OT

  • Eveleth Collegians - Cook 1:0

  • Hibbing Mahoning Miners - Park Rapids CCC 9:0
  • Hallock - Minneapolis Ewalds 6:1
  • Eveleth Indians - Minneapolis Flour City 2:1
  • Minneapolis Wheaties - Eveleth Indians 6:0

  • 3/21: Eveleth Collegians - St. Cloud 2:1 OT - semifinal

New England District

Semifinals

  • 3/1: Boston University City Club - Wollaston Sporting Club 7:1
Final
  • 3/8: Boston University City Club - Medford Hockey Club 12:1

While not an official championship game, the Boston Olympics established a claim to the New England amateur title with a 13-4 win over the Lewiston Cyclones on March 1.
