A tiebreaker game between Ilves and KIF was scheduled to be played in Tampere on March 3. Tampere was chosen as the site as Ilves had played in Helsinki three times, while KIF had only visited Tampere once. The time did not work for KIF, and they proposed rescheduling the match to 19:00, claiming that two of their players were on a ski trip. The match was not played, and Ilves was declared champions by a decision of the Ice Hockey Association, by a vote of 22-19.

Ilves Wins the 1935-36 SM-sarja championship, Helsingfors Skridskoklubb is relegated to 1. Divisioona.
