This was the 1909 ice hockey season in Alberta:

Stanley Cup Challenge

The Edmonton Hockey Club faced the Montreal Wanderers for the Stanley Cup on December 28 and 30, 1908. They lost the series, 13 goals to 10.

The team also played some exhibition games throughout the season.

Fort Saskatchewan withdrew.

The Edmonton Wanderers were prepared to face Strathcona on January 29, but a protest was lodge against one of their players, Trehern, and owing to a misunderstanding among the officials of the Alberta Amateur Hockey Associstion, his reinstatement was not confirmed, and he was prevented from playing for the Wanderers, who in turn dropped out of the league. Vegreville also defaulted their remaining games, giving the title to Strathcona.
