New Glasgow wanted to play Greggory and Norman, who had accepted salaries as professionals with Renfrew, Cobalt, and All-Montreal, against the Halifax Crescents on February 8. The Crescents, backed by the M.P.A.A., announced they would not face New Glasgow with those players in the lineup, and the game was called off. New Glasgow then threatened to show that all the teams in the NSHL were professional. The M.P.A.A. then launched an investigation into the league. The association subsequently suspended all the teams and players in the league for professionalism. It was also announced that New Glasgow would be removed from the league, with their remaining games being declared forfeit wins for their opponents.
The Halifax Crescents and Truro Colts then decided to come out as professionals, and play a series of three games that New Glasgow could also participate in if they so desired. The Amherst Ramblers claimed that, with the exception of two of their players, their team was amateur. They were not in favor of the professional league and were not planning to join the other teams in it. These decisions meant that the NSHL was completely broken up and the schedule would not be finished.
- Professional League
