The Senator Gordon Challenge Cup was emblematic of the Championship of Northern Ontario. It was first put up for play in 1911, and was held by North Bay until 1914, when they were beaten for it by Cobalt. Sudbury earned the trophy the next year, defeating Cobalt. It was not awarded from 1916-1918, due to World War I. In 1919, North Bay won the cup, beating Sudbury.
