This was the 1897 ice hockey season in British Columbia:

Results

  • 1/21: Rossland Hockey Club - Rossland Bank Team 2:2
  • 2/?: Sandon Leans - Sandon Fats 2:1
  • 2/?: Sandon Blacks - Sandon Whites 6:3
  • 2/24: Sandon - Kaslo 5:2 @ Kaslo
  • 2/28: Nelson Hockey Club - Kaslo 5:1 @ Kaslo

On March 4 and 5, 1897, Sandon hosted a mini-tournament for a Silver Cup. The three participants were Sandon, Kaslo and Rossland. Nelson was also invited but did not come.

  • 3/4: Kaslo - Rossland 6:5 OT
  • 3/4: Sandon - Kaslo 10:2
  • 3/5: Sandon - Rossland 5:2

Sandon won the Silver Cup, and then challenged Nelson to a game, which the latter team accepted.

  • 3/19: Sandon - Nelson 14:3 @ Sandon - Sandon were unofficial champions of BC and the Kootenays
