This was the 1905 Prince Edward Island Senior Hockey League season:

Teams

Senior Series

  • 1/6: Victorias - Abegweits 3:0
  • 1/10: Victorias - Crystal-Pioneers 6:5
  • 1/20: Abegweits - Crystal-Pioneers - not played as Summerside refused to travel to Charlottetown for the game
  • 1/27: Abegweits - Victorias 5:1 OT - Abegweits scored four goals in under a minute in OT

Dates for the playoff final between the Victorias and the Abegweits were difficult to arrange as both teams went on tours of other provinces. The Victorias eventually refused to playoff, so the Abegweits and the Crystal-Pioneers decided to organize a two-game series for the Island Championship. It appears the series did not materialize.

  • 3/21: Crystal-Pioneers - Victorias 3:2

The Crystal-Pioneers did play the Victorias on March 21 and defeated them. After the Victorias' loss, League Secretary James McMillan received a communication from the Abegweits' secretary, L.B. McMillan, notifying him that the result of the game entitled the Abegweits to the Provincial title for the 1904-05 season. The Abegweits' captain also made the following offer to the Victorias through The Guardian newspaper: Play them and in the event of the Victorias winning, the Abegweits would relinquish all claims to the championship.

H.S. MacLeod, the secretary of the Victorias responded as follows: "Dear Sir;- I see by a statement which appeared in The Guardian this morning and which was given to that paper by you that the Abegweits have claimed the hockey championship of P.E.I. for season 1905. Now as the Victorias also claim the championship I would respectfully request that you call a meeting of the executive of the league at once to decide how the matter stands. Also to decide the protest under which the game in Summerside on the 21st March was played. We will abide by the decision of the executive of the league."

A senior champion was not officially crowned in 1905.

  • 1/6: Abegweits - Victorias 7:1
  • 1/10: Crystal-Pioneers - Victorias 5:3
