The 1901 English Club Championship was awarded to Princes Ice Hockey Club. It was their third consecutive title and third overall.[1]
According to the Glimpses of English Ice Hockey History section of Peter Patton's Ice Hockey (1936) book, there were "Matches at Princes staged against various scratch teams." Patton also noted that "On January 22nd, 1901, we stopped hockey practice game at 7.25 on the death of Queen Victoria being announced."[2]
In the February 11, 1901, edition of the Athletic News, it was noted that "The Prince's Club ice hockey team beat Oxford last week".[3] Patton's book states that Princes won the Club Championship.
The following games were played in 1901:
- February 6, 1901: Princes 13 - Oxford 4 (match referred to in Athletic News)
- March 6, 1901: Princes 8 - Oxford 7
- March 16, 1901: Princes 10 - Oxford and Cambridge Combination 6
