Serbia and Montenegro was a country in southeastern Europe. It was formed from two former republics of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was established in 1992 as a federation called the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In 2003, it was reconstituted as a political union called the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
Montenegro declared independence on June 3, 2006, and Serbia declared independence two days later, on June 5, 2006.
