The Ukrainian Ice Hockey First League (also known as the Persha Liha and the Division B of the Ukrainian Hockey Championship) was the second-level ice hockey league in Ukraine from 2001-2006.

The league was divided into two groups (Group A and Group B) with the top teams from each group qualifying for the final playoffs. The playoff winner then qualified for the play-in round of the top-level Ukrainian Hockey Championship's playoffs.

There were plans to stage the Persha Liha again during the 2008-09 season, but it was instead decided to expand the number of teams in the top-level league. There were 24 teams slated to participate. West: HC L'viv, VIM-Berkut L'viv, Gladiator L'viv, HC Luts'k ,HC Rivne, Patriot Vinnytsya, Vatra Ivano-Frankivs'k. East: Piraty Dnipropetrovs'k, Prydniprovs'k Dnipropetrovs'k, Donbas Donets'k, SDYuSShOR Kharkiv, Zaporiz'ki Morzhi Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro Kherson, HC Sumy. North: Syrius Kyiv, Arsenal Kyiv, Kyivs'ki Lavry Kyiv, HC Bakhmach, HC Smila, HC Konotop, HC Chernihiv, Zaire Kyiv, Kryla Stolytsi Kyiv, Merkuriy Kyiv.[1]
