The 1989-90 DDR-Bestenermittlung season was the 20th and final edition of the unofficial competition formed after the restructuring of East German hockey in 1970. Eight teams participated in the tournament, which was won by SG Dynamo Fritz Lesch Berlin.

Group A

The intended fourth participant, BSG Spartakus Berlin, withdrew and joined the B Group prior to the season.

Relegation (DDR-Bestenermittlung – Bezirksliga)

The relegation game did not take place this year as the reunification of East and West Germany came to mark the end of hockey in the GDR.
