The 1986-87 Scottish League season was contested by five teams, and saw the Murrayfield Racers win the championship.
The league utilized an unusual format this year. An away win was worth three points, while a home victory was only good for a single point. Ties were prohibited, but the referees ignored the regulations. Murrayfield and Fife later had to participate in a shootout to decide one of their draws.
The top four teams in the regular season qualified for the Scottish Cup.
