The 1972-73 Oberliga season was the 15th and final season of the league as the second-level of ice hockey in Germany. Kölner EC won the championship and was promoted to the Eishockey-Bundesliga.

The 2nd Bundesliga replaced the Oberliga as the second-tier league for 1973-74. The Oberliga became the new third-level of German hockey.
